Gigi asks Sandiganbayan permission to undergo brain scan

MANILA, Philippines - The lawyers of the Jessica Lucila "Gigi" Reyes, former chief of staff of Senator Juan Ponce Enrile, asked the Sandiganbayan to have their client to undergo a brain scan.
In their motion, Reyes's legal counsels requested the anti-graft court's 3rd Division to allow her to undergo the magnetic resonance imaging/magnetic resonance angiogram on the recommendation of Dr. Martesio Perez, a neurologist at the Makati Medical Center.
Perez, according to the motion, examined Reyes last August 17 after "manifesting intermittent spasms of her right eyelid and cheek as well as noticing a progressive slurring in her speech and a slight deposit of saliva on her right lip."
Reyes' lawyers said that their client manifested some physical changes after she hit her head on the wall of her detention cell at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) in Taguig City last August 15 during an anxiety attack.
Reyes' legal counsels have requested the Sandiganbayan to hear the motion on September 4.
Reyes, now detained to the female dorm of the BJMP, has been diagnosed as having a mixed anxiety disorder by doctors during her treatment at the Taguig-Pateros District Hospital.
Along with her former boss, Reyes is now facing plunder and graft cases in connection with the P10-billion pork barrel scam.
