MANILA, Philippines —The police officer suspected of fatally shooting international race car driver Enzo Pastor claimed to have met the latter's wife, Dalia Guerrero Pastor, as they were planning the hit.

Chief Inspector Rodel Marcelo, head of the Quezon City Police District Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit, said that Edgar Angel confessed that Dalia knew about the plan of businessman Domingo "Sandy" de Guzman to pay him to kill Pastor.

"Nagkaroon ng isang pagkakataon na nung nag-usap si Sandy at si Egay (Angel) sa loob ng sasakyan ay kasama itong si Dalia at nagkaroon ng pagkakataon din si Egay na makaharap itong si Dalia habang pinag-uusapan 'yung plano ng pagpatay," Marcelo revealed in an interview with dzMM on Friday.

Authorities had said that they have been pursuing the love triangle angle in the murder case, with De Guzman, Dalia's alleged lover, suspected as the mastermind of the crime.

Angel and De Guzman were arrested Tuesday for the murder of Pastor. Angel claimed De Guzman paid him P100,000 to eliminate Dalia's husband.

Angel also told the police that to convince him to take the offer, De Guzman showed him evidence that Dalia had to be rescued from Pastor, Marcelo said.

"Kasama sa salaysay ni Egay na allegedly may ipinakitang litrato sa kanya itong si Sandy na litrato ni Dalia na may mga pasa sa katawan at diumano binubugbog nitong asawa niya na si Enzo," the police inspector said.

Marcelo also thinks that Pastor was somewhat aware that Dalia was seeing another man.

Cops have also been on the lookout for Dalia, who is charged with murder and frustrated murder in connection with the June 12 death of her husband. - Camille Diola
