Ninoy death anniversary commemorated

MANILA, Philippines - Tomorrow, Aug. 21, the Filipino people will commemorate the 31st death anniversary of former Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr.

Ninoy’s death anniversary will be remembered with simultaneous flower offerings and prayers at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) terminal 1 tarmac where the hero was shot dead; at NAIA terminal 3; at the Aquino monument in the Tagaytay City rotunda; the Aquino monument at the corner of Burgos and Roxas streets near Rizal Park in Manila; and at another monument in Makati.

Connie Bungag, head of the NAIA Media Affairs Division, said a Mass would be held at the NAIA terminal 1 tarmac near where Ninoy was shot at 8:10 a.m. that fateful Aug. 21, followed by a floral offering by members of NAM-SERVE and ATOM, relatives and friends.

The group will proceed to NAIA terminal 3 for another floral offering at the bronze bust, to be led by EDSA People Power Commission (EPPC) chairman and Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa Jr. and Manila International Airport Authority general manager Jose Angel Honrado.

The EPPC provincial chapters will have their own commemoration rites.
