The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines (Xinhua) - The number of jobless adult Filipinos hardly changed at 25.9 percent, or 11.8 million in the second quarter of this year, according to survey revealed here today.

The survey, conducted among 1,200 adults nationwide from June 27 to 30, showed that it is slightly lower than the 26.1 percent jobless rate in the same period last year,  according to results of the Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey.

The survey showed that jobless women accounted for 39.9 percent, higher than men at a rate of 14.7 percent.

The current jobless rate was higher than the 20.5 percent level when President Aquino assumed office in June 2010.

According to the survey, 32 percent expects more jobs in the next 12 months down from 36 percent in March, while the number of those who expects lesser jobs rose to 28 percent from 23 percent.
