'Glenda' now over West Phl Sea, but 'Habagat' to bring rains

MANILA, Philippines — The eye of Typhoon Glenda is now outside the Luzon landmass as it starts to move away from the country, state weather bureau PAGASA said.

In an interview with radio dzMM, PAGASA forecaster Gener Quitlong said the eye of the typhoon was located over the West Philippine Sea or about 60 kilometers west of Subic, Zambales.

The weather bureau also said in its latest hourly update that Glenda was packing maximum sustained winds of 140 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 170 kph.

Glenda is movng northwestward with a speed of 25 kph.

Quitlong told radio dzMM that Glenda's outer clouds were still affecting Metro Manila.

While Glenda is now moving away from the country, the southwest monsoon or "Habagat" still persists and will continue to bring rains over the western part of Luzon and Metro Manila.

In its 11 a.m. weather bulletin, PAGASA said public storm warning signals are hoisted over the following areas:
