Phl imposes alert levels in Gaza

MANILA, Philippines (Xinhua) - The Philippine government today raised Alert Level 2 or restriction phase in the Gaza Strip due to the threats to security posed by the Israel-Hamas conflict.

The estimated 109 Filipinos in Gaza are advised to restrict non- essential movements and prepare for possible evacuation, the Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said.

The department also said that Alert Level 1 or precautionary phase is raised in the West Bank where there are about 113 Filipinos, and in southern and central Israel.

Under Alert Level 1, Filipinos are alerted to take the necessary precautions.

There are 36,400 Filipinos in Israel.
