Deniece’s rape complaint vs Vhong dismissed

MANILA, Philippines - The Taguig City Prosecutor’s Office has dismissed a complaint filed by model Deniece Cornejo against actor Ferdinand “Vhong” Navarro alleging she was raped on Jan. 17.

The actor’s lawyer Alma Mallonga said yesterday in a resolution dated July 1, 2014, the allegation of rape committed by Navarro was already dismissed last April by the Department of Justice.

The resolution reads in part: “If indeed complainant was raped on Jan. 17 or 18, 2014, why would she still invite (Navarro) on Jan. 22, 2014 to her condominium?”

“The dismissal vindicates Vhong, gives lie to the baseless charges against him, and brings him one step closer to reaching the end of his quest for full justice,” said Mallonga.

Cornejo last April filed a second rape complaint against Navarro before the Taguig Prosecutor’s Office after her first complaint of rape was junked by the DOJ.
