Raps filed vs fratmen in Benilde student's death

MANILA, Philippines — The National Bureau of Investigation on Friday slapped charges against 20 individuals suspected of having involvement in the death of a De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde student before the Department of Justice (DOJ).

The respondents, mostly members of Tau Gamma Fraternity De La Salle chapter led by Cody Errol Morales, are facing charges for violations of the Anti-Hazing Law and the death of Guillo Servando on June 28.

Morales was tagged "Grand Triskelion" and alleged head of the brotherhood's De La Salle chapter that held that initiation rites in a house in Makati City, where 18-year-old Servando and three other recruits underwent hazing.

Daniel Paul Bautista, meanwhile, reportedly acted as medic to revive Servando.

The other suspects were identified as Esmerson "Emeng" Calupas, Jomar Pajarito, Kurt Michael Almazan, Luis Solomon Arevalo, Carl Francis Loresca, Hans Tatlonghari, Eleazar "Trex Garcia" Pablico III and John Kevin Navoa.

Also charged were Vic Angelo Dy, Mark Ramos, Mike Castañeda, Tessa Dayanghirang, Yssa Valbuena and alias Rey Jay and Kiko.

Calupas was tagged as master initiator and the first to hit the victims with a paddle. Pajarito, meanwhile, was the house caretaker.

The Bureau of Immigration earlier announced that Navoa, Calupas, Tatlonghari and Pablico have already left the country, while other respondents remain at large.

The DOJ on Thursday also issued a lookout bulletin against 17 of the suspects. - reports from Edu Punay and Aie Balagtas See
