Gigi wants to join Enrile, others at Camp Crame
MANILA, Philippines - Gigi Reyes, the former chief of staff of senator Juan Ponce Enrile, also wants to be jailed at the Philippine National Police Custodial Center in Camp Crame, where her ex-boss is now detained.
In a three-page motion, Reyes' lawyers cited the report of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penlogy in Quezon City, informing the Sandiganbayan's 3rd Division that it has no "adequate facility and means to handle and ensure the safety and security of detainees in high-profile cases..."
"The PNP Custodial Center has adequate facility and means to secure [Reyes] as shown by the fact that some of her co-accused in the PDAF (priority development assistance fund) cases are presently detained thereat," the motion read.
It added: "There will be less logistical and security concerns and inconvenience to the law enforcement authorities if...Reyes is likewise detained thereat."
Aside from Enrile, senators Ramon Revilla Jr. and Jinggoy Estrada are also detained at the police jail facility while their plunder and graft cases are being heard separately by the First and Fifth divisions of the Sandiganbayan.
Reyes' lawyers also asked the anti-graft court to set the hearing on their motion to transfer detention of their client on July 8 around 1:30 p.m.
