CIDG: Enrile to join Bong, Jinggoy at Custodial Center

MANILA, Philippines - Senator Juan Ponce Enrile will be detained at the Philippine National Police Custodial Center in Camp Crame, Quezon City once the warrant of arrest against him for plunder case is served, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) said Friday.

CIDG chief Director Benjamin Magalong said it is up to the PNP medical doctors to determine if the senator should be put on hospital arrest due to his age.

The senator is already 90 years old.

"It will all depend on the findings of our doctors," Magalong told Philstar.com when asked if Enrile would be brought directly to the PNP General Hospital, which is also located within Camp Crame.

Magalong said that once police doctors have determined that Enrile is not fit for detention at the Custodial Center, the CIDG will still have to secure a court order for the transfer of detention.

Senators Ramon Revilla Jr. and Jinggoy Estrada are both detained at the Custodial Center, also for plunder and graft cases.

The three senators have been accused of pocketing part of their Priority Development Assistance Fund through fake non-government organizations of businesswoman Janet Lim Napoles.

The Sandiganbayan Third Division earlier ordered the arrest of Enrile for the plunder case filed against him by the Office of the Ombudsman.

Napoles, Enrile's former chief of staff Gigi Reyes, John Raymond de Asis and Ronald John Lim were also ordered arrested.

Enrile is also facing 11 counts of graft.
