Cunanan asks court to arraign him in pork scam case

MANILA, Philippines -  Even before the Sandiganbayan issues  its decision on the plea of Senator Juan Enrile to throw out the plunder case against for alleged insufficient grounds,  one of his co-accused sought to to be  arraigned for graft charges today.

Dennis Cunanan, former director general of the Technology and Livelihood Resource Center, asked the 3rd Division of the anti-graft court to be arraigned ahead of its determination of probable cause decision.

Cunanan's camp filed before the Court a manifestation and very urgent motion ex parte motion to set the immediate arraignment of the accused.

Cunanan has a pending motion asking the Court to allow him to leave the country to "fulfill his duties as World Secretary General of the Junior Chamber International."

Under the Rules of Court, he has to be arraigned first before the tribunal decides whether to grant or not his request to travel abroad.

"In view of the said motion, herein accused hereby moves the Honorable Court to immediately schedule his arraignment...preferably on or before the requested hearing of the subject motion on Tuesday, 1 July 2014, at 2 p.m.," the manifestation read.

Cunanan has a graft case before the 5th Division, two graft cases before the 3rd Division, four at 1st Division in connection with the pork barrel scam.
