MANILA, Philippines - A magnitude 5.7 earthquake shook parts of Luzon, including Metro Manila, last night but there were no immediate reports of damage, state seismologists said.
The tremor occurred at 7:52 p.m. with its epicenter located 22 kilometers southwest of Calatagan, Batangas, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
Phivolcs warned of possible aftershocks.
Some Filipinos reported in social media having felt the tremor in Mandaluyong, Marikina, Pasay, Parañaque, Rizal, Muntinlupa, Laguna, Bulacan, Pampanga, Occidental Mindoro, Taguig, Makati, Manila, Pasig, Quezon City, Las Piñas and Valenzuela.
Phivolcs had not reported the intensity of the quake as of press time.
The agency described the earthquake as “moderate†and likely to cause “local damage near the epicenter.â€
