Vietnam, Phl to play in AFC U14 Girls Champ's semi-finals

HO CHI MINH CITY (Xinhua) - Vietnam and the Philippines will play in the semi-finals of the ongoing 2014 AFC U- 14 Girls Regional Championship (ASEAN) after beating Singapore 3-0 and Cambodia 5-0, respectively, in their third match here on Thursday.

Previously, host Vietnam thrashed Cambodia 8-0 in the opener, but was defeated 0-1 by the Philippines in the second game, hence becoming runner-up of Group A.

Meanwhile, the Philippines had all three wins, over Singapore 6- 0, Vietnam 1-0 and Cambodia 5-0, to rank top in Group A.

Host Vietnam and the Philippines will take on Thailand and Myanmar in the semi-finals on Saturday.

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC)'s U14 Girls' Regional Championship (ASEAN zone) is being held in Vietnam's southern Ho Chi Minh City from June 10 to 15 with participation of seven teams from Cambodia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and host Vietnam. They are divided into two groups and play in the round-robin format.
