DOLE to applicants: Get ready for biggest job fair
MANILA, Philippines - New graduates and other jobseekers are asked to get ready for the country’s biggest job fair.
Labor Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz said jobseekers must prepare the necessary documents so they could easily submit the requirements needed.
“Whether you are going to the job fair at the SMX Convention Center at the MOA in Pasay City, or to another job fair in a particular city or province, a basic requirement is to have your application documents ready as job opportunities in ‘key employment generator’ industries in all the 65 job fairs will be abundantly available on May 1,†she said.
“Choose the position that best fits your qualification from the vacancies listing that would be made available at the fairs. Take note of the company’s name then proceed to the company’s booth.â€
Baldoz said among the documents required at the job fair are curriculum vitae, 2x2 ID pictures (bring extra copies for multiple job applications), certificate of employment for those formerly employed, diploma and/or transcript of records, and authenticated birth certificate.
Jobseekers will be required to fill up registration forms at the job fairs, she added.
Applicants can already pre-register online through the new PhilJob.net website (http//www.phil-jobnet.dole.gov.ph) or manually through the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) in their locality.
Baldoz said it would be better for jobseekers to do a little research on the company they are interested in.
“Doing research will be a big help in the interviews,†she said.
“Employers will interview, pre-select and hire on-the-spot qualified workers, but if the applicant is not qualified, he may opt to look for other vacancies.â€
Over 100,000 overseas and local jobs are available in the simultaneous job fairs that the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) had launched as part of the Labor Day celebration on Thursday, Baldoz said.
The 2014 Labor Day celebration carries the theme “Sa Sipag, Tiyaga, at Talino, Buong Mundo Saludo sa Manggagawang Pilipino.â€
The DOLE aims to recognize the invaluable contribution of all Filipino workers to the continued growth and resurgence of the Philippine economy.
On May 1, the DOLE, through the job fairs, hopes to give workers the service they deserve by fast-tracking the matching of jobseekers and employers, particularly in identified areas where skills are highly in demand, Baldoz said.
