MANILA, Philippines - Tropical Depression Caloy has made landfall on Saturday in Tandag City, Surigao del Sur as seven provinces were put under public storm warning signal no. 1, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

The weather bureau raised signal no. 1 in Southern Leyte, Bohol, Siquijor, Cebu, Negros Oriental and Occidental, and Guimaras.

Pagasa said Caloy has maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour near the center and is seen to move west at 11 kph. Rainfall is estimated to be moderate to heavy, around 5 to 15 millimeter per hour within the storm's 300-km diameter.

The storm is forecast to be 60 km east of Dumaguete City on Sunday morning, 170 km east of Puerto Princesa on Monday morning and 170 km west northwest of Puerto Princesa on Tuesday morning.

"Residents living in low lying and mountainous areas under public storm warning signal no. 1 are alerted against possible flashfloods and landslides," Pagasa said.

The weather bureau added that fishing boats and other small seacrafts should not venture out into the seaboards of northern Luzon and the eastern seaboards of Luzon and Visayas due to the northeast monsoon.
