PNoy celebrates 54th birthday; groups wish for him to quit post

MANILA, Philippines - President Aquino is celebrating his 54th birthday today and activist groups have a wish for him: to quit his post.

AnakPawis and Kadamay with about a hundred of their members held a rally at Aquino's residence at Times St. in Quezon City, a GMA-7 report said

The groups criticized the president for mishandling various issues such as landgrabbing at Hacienda Luisita, the fare hike of mass railway transits and the power rate hike of Manila Electric Co.

Following the protest action in Quezon City, the group proceeded to Mendiola in Manila to continue their program.

Aquino on Friday said his birthday wish for the year is better resilience for communities.

He also said he will spend time with his family and close friends today.
