MANILA, Philippines - The Pasay City court will decide today whether or not to stop the four-day conference on reproductive health and sexual rights at the Philippine International Convention Center.
The Pasay City local court will hear around 2 p.m. the petition for injunction filed by Pro-Life Philippines against the holding of the 7th Asia Pacific Conference on Reproductive Health and Sexual Rights.
The international conference started January 21, with Sen. Pia Cayetano, a staunch advocate of women's reproductive health rights, acting as a speaker.
Eric Manalang of Pro-Life Philippines said their group hopes to stop the holding of the Thursday session of the conference which tackles the issue of abortion.
"We will not stop praying. If we don't get it (temporary restraining order) tomorrow, a prayer rally PICC is needed," Manalang said.
The group claims that the conference aims to legalize or bring in abortion into the country as a form of population control.
Organizers of the conference, though admitting that there is a discussion of abortion, it does also tackle other issues that face the young, especially women.
