Brrr... Baguio, Metro shiver

MANILA, Philippines - Residents of Baguio City and Metro Manila again found themselves shivering yesterday as temperatures dipped.

At 5:10 a.m. yesterday, Baguio’s coldest temperature so far this year was recorded at 8.1 degrees Celsius, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

Baguio’s coldest morning on record was at 6.2 degrees Celsius in February 1961.

In Metro Manila, PAGASA weather division chief Robert Sawi said the coldest temperature yesterday was recorded at 20 degrees Celsius at 5 a.m.

The temperature in Metro Manila dropped to 17.5 degrees Celsius at 2 a.m. last Saturday, the coldest recorded in the metropolis so far this year.

Metro Manila recorded its coldest temperature in February 1962 at 14.6 degrees Celsius.

PAGASA said the cold weather associated with the northeast monsoon will last at least until February.
