Cargo vessel runs aground in Boracay

BORACAY ISLAND, Philippines (Xinhua) - A cargo vessel ran aground early this morning in this resort island of central Philippines, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said.

PCG officials said the cargo vessel came from Metro Manila and transported cargoes here as supplies of several resort. Based on initial investigation, inclement weather caused the incident.

PCG officials are awaiting for a high tide to push back the cargo vessel to make it return to the sea. While awaiting for the high tide, the cargoes were unloaded via small boats and delivered to their respective concessionaires.

Investigation on the incident is underway.
