New US envoy gets verified Twitter account

MANILA, Philippines - Newly installed United States Ambassador Philip Goldberg received yesterday a verified status for his Twitter account, according to GMA News.

Goldberg thanked Twitter for the Christmas “gift” before noon yesterday. Twitter verifies accounts to establish the authenticity of identities of “key individuals and brands.”

Goldberg’s Twitter profile now has a blue verified badge. The microblogging site said it “proactively” verifies accounts “to make it easier for users to find who they’re looking for.”

Twitter said it does not accepts requests for verification from the general public.
