Roxas to PNP : Get killers of Zamboanga del Sur mayor
MANILA, Philippines - Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas on Friday ordered the Philippine National Police to immediately bring to justice the killers of Zamboanga del Sur, Labangan mayor Ukol Talumpa and three others.
"Inatasan ko na ang pamunuan ng Philippine National Police na huwag mag-aksaya ng panahon at agad na tugisin ang mga salarin para papanagutin sila sa batas," Roxas said in a statement.
During the ambush of Talumpa outside the arrival area of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 in Pasay City, three others were killed, including the mayor's wife, while five others were wounded.
Roxas also reiterated his directive to the PNP to double the presence of its personnel in crowded places and secure the safety of the public.
"Inulit ko rin sa PNP ang aking direktiba na doblehin ang presensya ng pulis sa lahat ng mataong lugar tulad ng airport, seaport, bus terminal, shopping malls, palengke at simbahan.
"Inaasahan ko na hihigpitan ng ating mga pulis ang pagbabantay sa mga pampublikong lugar para masiguro na laging ligtas sa kapahamakan ang ating mga kababayan," Roxas said.
