Another radioman slain in Surigao

The Philippine Star

DAVAO CITY, Philippines (Xinhua) - Another radioman has been killed by motorcycle-riding gunmen in the southern Philippines, police said today.

Michael Diaz Milo, supervisor of Prime Radio FM, died upon arrival at a local hospital after being gunned down in Tandag City, Surigao del Sur, at 4:30 p.m. yesterday, said Martin Gamba, spokesperson of Caraga regional police.

The 34-year old victim was on his motorcycle when attacked by two gunmen in another motorbike in Mabua village, Gamba said, adding the victim had succumbed to gunshot wound in the head.

A special task group was now investigating the broadcaster's killing, police said.

Milo was the second radio personality to be murdered in Mindanao this month.

Just over a week ago, a hard-hitting radio commentator was also shot dead by gunmen in Bukidnon province.

The Philippines has been known as one of the world's worst places for journalists, with more than 200 media workers murdered since 1986.
