De Lima to meet prosecutors, officials in 'pork' probe

MANILA, Philippines - Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Leila de Lima will meet on Friday officials from the government's prosecutorial agencies following the Supreme Court's (SC) directive to investigate and prosecute everyone involved in the misuse of the priority development assistance fund since 1990.

De Lima will meet undersecretaries and assistant secretaries of the DOJ, officials of the National Prosecutorial Service led by Prosecutor General Claro Arellano and officials of the National Bureau of Investigation.

She said she ordered the officials to study the decision of the SC, and write a recommendation on how they will comply with it. The meeting will also cover the scope of the investigation and how the agencies can prevent the overlapping of their functions in following the directive of the high court.

De Lima said she also plans to meet Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales and other members of the Inter-Agency Anti-Graft Coordinating Council.
