DFA lowers crisis alert level in Egypt from 4 to 3

MANILA, Philippines - The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Thursday announced that it has lowered the Crisis Alert Level for Egypt from 4 to 3.

The DFA said that the crisis alert level was lowered due to the continuing improvement in the political and security situation in Egypt.

Crisis Alert Level 4 means mandatory repatriation and evacuation of Filipinos while Level 3 entails the voluntary repatriation of Filipinos in Egypt.

"The deployment of new workers, as well as the return to Egypt of vacationing workers, spouses of Egyptian nationals, Islamic University students and their dependents, continue to be suspended," the DFA said.

It said that a total of 163 Filipinos have been repatriated from Egypt as of November 12..

There are at least 6,000 Filipinos in Egypt.
