MANILA, Philippines - Authorities are now preparing to escort businesswoman Janet Napoles from her detention cell in a police camp in Laguna to the Senate building in Pasay City.
A radio report said several police units such as the Highway Patrol Group and Special Action Force have been gathering outside Fort Sto. Domingo in Sta.Rosa, Laguna, getting ready to secure and escort Napoles to the Senate hearing this morning.
Napoles, alleged brains in the P10 billion pork barrel scam, is set to appear in the Senate inquiry as a resource person around 10 a.m.
Reports also said police marked vehicles have been entering the police camp where Napoles is detained.
A helicopter was also seen hovering the area, indicating the possibility that Napoles could be airlifted from the police camp to the Senate building.
Earlier, Senior Superintendent Reuben Theodore Sindac, Philippine National Police public information office head, said the details of the security plans in escorting Napoles to and from the Senate building is not for public consumption.
As of this posting, several media outfits and TV network crew have been waiting for the Napoles convoy outside Fort Sto. Domingo.
