PAL flight to California may be delayed due to LAX shooting

MANILA, Philippines - A Philippine Airlines flight to Los Angeles, California may be delayed after the shooting incident at the Los Angeles Airport (LAX) which left at least one dead early Saturday morning.

PAL said flight PR 102, with original arrival time in LAX at 7:51 p.m. (LA time, November 2) “may experience delay in touchdown Saturday as the situation at the US terminal is being normalized.”

Its scheduled departure time from Manila to LA is 10 p.m. November 2 (Manila time).

LAX and security authorities have placed the situation under control after the shooting incident at the terminal at 9:30 a.m. November 1 (12:30 a.m. Manila time, November 2).

PAL said its return trip, PR 103, departing LA, has an estimated time of departure at 12:10 a.m. November 2 (LA time). Its original departure time is 10:10 p.m. (LA time, Nov. 2).

“Airport workers and airline employees were allowed to return to the terminal starting 5 p.m. local time (8 a.m., Manila time, Nov. 2). Airport congestion is to be expected as departures were earlier put on hold soon after the said incident,” PAL said.

A man, later identified as Paul Ciancia, 23, of Pensville, New Jeresy, walked into LAX’s Terminal 3 on Friday (LA time), pulled out an assault rifle from a bag, and open fired, killing Gerardo Hernandez, 39, a Transportation Security Administration officer.

Three more persons were wounded in the shooting.
