Damayan launches ‘Lingap Bohol’

MANILA, Philippines - Operation Damayan, the social arm of The STAR Group of Publications, has launched “Lingap Bohol,” a relief drive that will lend assistance to victims of the recent magnitude 7.2 earthquake in Bohol.

With an initial seed fund of P1.2 million, The STAR’s Operation Damayan will be dispatching immediate relief operations to Loon, Bohol, which has been isolated from the rest of the province and is in direst need of assistance.

Philippine STAR president and CEO Miguel Belmonte said Loon Mayor Lloyd Lopez appealed for assistance as 40,000 residents in the town were rendered homeless and are temporary housed in evacuation centers.
