MANILA, Philippines - With barangay polls just more than three weeks away, the number of people arrested for violating the gun ban continues to rise.
The Philippine National Police on Friday reported that a total of 84 gun ban violators have been arrested.
Of the figure, 75 were civilians, three were policemen, a government official and two security guards, the PNP said.
Authorities also confiscated 66 firearms, which included three gun replicas, four grenades, 11 explosive devices and 535 assorted ammunition.
The Commission on Election gun ban will be in effect until Nov. 12, or 15 days after the barangay polls.
