MANILA, Philippines - Despite its failure to pay for the land for the past 30 years, the Philippine Children’s Medical Center (PCMC) will not be evicted from its present site in Quezon City.
General manager Chito Cruz of the National Housing Authority (NHA) said they are trying to get back only 2,400 square meters of the 3.7 hectares that the hospital is occupying.
“The NHA is simply trying to recover a very small portion of its property,†he said.
Cruz said they will not hamper or stop the operations of the hospital.
“We would like to emphasize that the area encroached upon by PCMC is not even included in the original area allotted to them,†he said.
Cruz said PCMC expanded the area that the hospital is occupying without the approval or consent of the NHA.
The expanded area is presently being used for the hospital’s parking lot, sewage treatment plant, and engineering center, he added.
