Reward now P500,000 for info on Davantes slay

MANILA, Philippines - Las Piñas City Mayor Vergel Aguilar yesterday offered a P300,000 reward for any information that would lead to the solution of the brutal killing of advertising executive Kristelle “Kae” Davantes.

The amount offered by Aguilar raised to P500,000 the bounty for the capture of the killers of Davantes, said Chief Superintendent Christopher Laxa, head of Task Force Davantes.

Earlier, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) under Chief Superintendent Marcelo Garbo Jr. put up a P200,000 reward to anyone who could help the NCRPO solve the case.

“We will hand over the cash reward to anybody who will lead us to the whereabouts of the suspects with no questions asked,” Laxa said.

Except for the recovery of Davantes’ Toyota Altis in Las Piñas City over the weekend, Laxa admitted there is no major breakthrough yet in their investigation.

He said scene of the crime operatives have lifted latent prints of three people from outside the car. Laxa said these fingerprints would be cross-matched with the latent prints of criminals kept in the database of the Philippine National Police in the hope of tracking down the killers of Davantes.

He said they have yet to establish the motive for the killing. But police investigators are working on three to four angles.

Laxa refused to elaborate, but insisted that the sexual abuse angle has been ruled out. – With Perseus Echeminada
