No Napoles in Comelec records of presidential campaigns

Camille Diola - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Janet Lim Napoles' alleged contributions to the campaign kitties of former presidential hopefuls Benigno Aquino III, Joseph Estrada and Manuel Villar are not reflected in the records of the Commission on Elections.

Previous reports alleged that Napoles, accused to be the engineer of the P10-billion pork barrel scam, gave money to the candidates.

The Statements of Election Contributions and Expenditures of the 2010 elections submitted by the candidates to the polling body noted that Aquino's biggest contributor was his uncle, businessman Antonio "Tony Boy" Cojuangco, who gave P100 million for his campaign.

President Aquino also had 95 other contributors listed in his statement, but Napoles' name is not among them.

Villar, meanwhile, did not name a single contributor in his campaign, for which he spent P431 million in advertisement, staff and the like, based on his statement.

Now Manila Mayor Estrada had 24 donors, each giving no less than P4 million each with the Ejercito family spending P20 million for his presidential bid.

Entertainment personality Lolit Solit said in a previous radio interview that Napoles, whom she calls her friend, revealed to her that she put up funds for the three candidates' campaigns.
