Kiko exits, but rains to prevail in MM
MANILA, Philippines - Tropical Depression Kiko left the country yesterday but rains will still prevail over the western section of Luzon, including Metro Manila, in the next few days due to a weak southwest monsoon, the state weather bureau said.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Kiko was spotted at 620 kilometers northwest of Coron, Palawan with maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center as of 4 a.m. yesterday.
It was forecast to move northwest at 20 kph.
Kiko was expected to be 720 kms west of Iba, Zambales yesterday afternoon.
PAGASA said Metro Manila, central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, western and central Visayas, northern Mindanao and Caraga will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms in the next 24 hours.
The rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.
PAGASA said coastal waters along the western section of central and southern Luzon and the Visayas will be moderate to rough.
