Phl has 1,712 new agriculturists

MANILA, Philippines - The names of 1,712 new licensed agriculturists and 605 new licensed nutritionist-dietitians were released yesterday.

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) said 4,861 took the agriculturist licensure examination in Manila and the cities of Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Legazpi, Lucena, Tacloban, Tuguegarao and Zamboanga, and 940 took the nutrition-dietitian licensure examination in Manila and Zamboanga City last July.

Raul Margate, a graduate of Central Mindanao University (CMU), topped the examination with a score of 90.17 percent while University of the Philippines-Los Baños graduate Berlaine Quime followed in second place with a grade of 87.50 percent.

With a grade of 87 percent, UP graduate Mary Grace Saldajeno ranked third while fellow UP graduate Rochelle Joie Saracanlao captured the fourth spot with a score of 86.67 percent.

Another CMU graduate, Eddiemar Lagua scored 86 percent and placed fifth in the examination, followed by Monaliza Ortiguero of UP-Los Baños with a grade of 85.67 percent.

UP Los Baños graduates Agnes Claire Nebreja, with a grade of 85.50 percent, and Ma. Queenie Tabur with a grade of 85.33 percent placed seventh and eighth, respectively.

Another UP-Los Baños graduate, Albert Astillero and CMU graduate Jerilyn Gabato shared the ninth spot with a score of 85.17 percent.

Three UP graduates – Julian Felipe de Leon, Krystalene Decena, and Ronaldo Orpiano – as well as Xavier University graduate Douglas Doloriel and Ateneo de Davao University’s Melani Provido all scored 85 percent and placed 10th.

The PRC said the results of the nutrition-dietitian licensure examination were released two   working days from the last day of examination.

Members of the Board of Nutrition and Dietetics are Virgith Buena, chairman; and Azucena Limbo, member.

The PRC said the top performing schools in the nutritionist-dietitian licensure examination are the University of the Philippines-Los Baños and the University of Santo Tomas.

The PRC said registration for the issuance of professional identification card and certificate of registration for the new nutritionist-dietitians will be on Aug. 22 and 23. 

Those who will register are required to bring the following: duly accomplished Oath Form or Panunumpa ng Propesyonal, current Community Tax Certificate, one passport size picture (colored with white background and complete name tag), two sets of metered documentary stamps and one short brown envelope with name and profession; pay the initial registration fee of P600 and annual registration fee of P450 for 2013-2016. 

Successful examinees must personally register and sign in the Roster of Registered Professionals.

The date and venue for the oath-taking ceremony of the new nutritionist-dietitians will be announced later, the PRC said.
