Reports: Daiana Menezes’ congressman husband attempts suicide

MANILA, Philippines – Outgoing Cagayan de Oro Rep. Benjo Benaldo attempted to commit suicide, according to reports from the radio and the Internet.

The reports, citing sources from the House of Representatives, said Benaldo tried to take his life in his room in Congress, where he was reportedly discovered bloody.

The lawmaker has been taken to New Era Hospital, the reports added.

Benaldo is the husband of model Daiana Menezes. He recently hogged the headlines due to rumors of domestic abuse to Menezes, who was then his girlfriend.

The couple recently announced their marriage.

Benaldo lost his reelection bid to Rolando Uy in the midterm elections last May.
