The Philippine Star

DAVAO CITY, Philippines – A number of passengers of Cebu Pacific Flight 5J971 are expected to undergo stress debriefing following last Sunday’s accident at the airport here.

Davao City’s Social Services and Development Office chief Marilou Bermudo said the debriefing was requested by some of the passengers after they experienced the effects caused by the trauma of the accident.

Mayor Sara Duterte also offered legal assistance for the passengers should they want to press charges against Cebu Pacific and also against the management of the Davao airport under the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP).

Duterte has opened a text hotline as well as Facebook and email accounts for the passengers to course their respective complaints.

The passengers have grouped and named themselves the “5J971 victims,” after the flight number of the Cebu Pacific A320 jet that skidded off the runway of the Davao International Airport.

The passengers are planning to register the group before the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to allow them to file a class suit against Cebu Pacific.

CAAP deputy chief John Andrews arrived in Davao City in time for the start of the investigation conducted by the Aircraft Accident Board.
