Solenn Heussaff files counter-affidavit on tax evasion case at DOJ
MANILA, Philippines - Actress Solenn Marie Adea Heussaff on Tuesday filed her counter-affidavit on the tax evasion case filed by the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) against her at the Department of Justice (DOJ).
Heussaff was accompanied by her lawyer Jay Layug during the filing of the counter-affidavit.
Layug said that it was never in the intention of the actress not to pay the right tax.
The lawyer also complained that the actress was denied of due process since the BIR gave them only five days to submit proper documents.
He also believes that there is no "probable cause" to elevate the BIR's complaint to the courts.
The DOJ scheduled the next hearing on June 19.
Heussaff, also a TV personality and a model, was charged with a tax evasion case for her supposed failure to file proper income tax.
The BIR said that the actress earned P13.38 million in 2011, but she only declared an income of P6.73 million. It said the actress had a tax liability of P3.6 million.
