Phl congratulates Malaysian PM, his party on reelection

MANILA, Philippines (Xinhua) - The Philippines today congratulated Malaysian Prime Minster Najib Razak and his ruling party, Barisan Nasional, on their victory at the 13th Malaysian General Elections held yesterday.

"We value Prime Minister Najib's personal commitment to the Philippines-Moro Islamic Liberation Front peace talks and the Framework Agreement on the Bangsamoro, and we will continue to work closely with him in our common aspiration for peace and security," the Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said in a statement.

"We look forward to the further deepening of our bilateral relations and continuing our close cooperation, especially in the areas of socio-economic growth and the welfare of our peoples," it added.

Malaysia is brokering the ongoing peace talks between the Philippine government and the Muslim rebels.
