Kris won’t commit to support entire Team PNoy slate

General Santos City, Philippines   â€“ One thing you can expect from President Aquino’s sister Kris is her being entirely candid, including who she will support in the May 13 elections.

Speaking at a press conference at the Microtel Hotel here, Kris admitted that she is helping out some candidates of Team PNoy and some local candidates.

Kris, who was with Team PNoy candidates Sen. Francis Escudero and Grace Poe during their tour of General Santos, Davao, Cebu and Tacloban cities starting yesterday until Friday night, broadly hinted that she was not supporting the entire administration slate.

She already demonstrated this during a recent rally of Makati City Mayor Junjun Binay, where she openly endorsed him and his running mate.

Junjun is the son of Vice President Jejomar Binay, who is one of the key leaders of the opposition United Nationalist Alliance (UNA).

“Very good friend ko si Mayor Junjun Binay. I campaigned for him when he was vice mayor kasi wala naman Team PNoy na tumakbo sa Makati (Mayor Junjun Binay is a very good friend. I campaigned for him when he was vice mayor since no Team PNoy candidate ran in Makati),” she said.

As far as the local candidates are concerned, Kris noted that what she did for Junjun was exclusively for Makati City.

Kris’ position when it comes to the senatorial candidates was even more blurred.

According to Kris, aside from Escudero she accompanied Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano during his campaign last Wednesday.

On Sunday, she will join Aurora Rep. Sonny Angara and on Wednesday she will spend the day with her cousin Bam Aquino.

In the case of Escudero, Kris said that she promised him during his birthday that she would go with him during the final stretch of the campaign.

“If there is anyone else (that I will support), I will not mention it anymore,” she said.

When asked if she would support her brother’s campaign for a 12-0 sweep by Team PNoy, Kris said that she would not answer the question “so I won’t have to lie.”

Only three UNA senatorial candidates have been ranking in the top 12 of the surveys – Nancy Binay, San Juan City Rep. JV Ejercito and Sen. Gregorio Honasan.

Of the three, Nancy has been performing very well in the surveys.

Because Kris endorsed Junjun, she was inevitably asked if she would also support Nancy.

Kris admitted that she also has a good relationship with Nancy and that her younger sister Anne-Anne “is one of my closest friends.”

“Out of respect for my brother, I won’t answer that and in the interest of my telling the truth, I also won’t answer that,” she volunteered in anticipation of a question about her supporting Nancy.

During the press conference, the President’s sister was also asked about the possibility of her entering politics in the future, just like her brother and their parents before them.
