MANILA, Philippines - Former military comptroller Jacinto Ligot was ordered arrested for 11 counts of perjury the other day.
The Sandiganbayan has also issued a hold departure order (HDO) against the retired military general.
“It appears that sufficient grounds exist for the finding of probable cause for the purpose of issuing a warrant of arrest against the accused charged in the instant case,†the Sandiganbayan said.
Ligot was allowed to post bail in the amount of P66,000, or P6,000 for each count of perjury.
Perjury charges were filed against Ligot for allegedly making numerous false declarations in his statements of assets, liabilities and net worth from 1993 to 2003.
Copies of the arrest order were forwarded to the Philippine National Police–Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, the Quezon City police, the National Bureau of Investigation, and the National Capital Region Police Office.
