Metro Manila sizzles anew

MANILA, Philippines - Temperatures in Metro Manila continue to soar this summer, with the mercury rising yesterday to 36.6 degrees Celsius, the hottest recorded so far in the metropolis this year.

Conie Marie Dadivas, weather forecaster at the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), said the warmest weather was recorded at 3:55 p.m. at the Science Garden in Quezon City.

The same temperature, she said, was registered in Metro Manila on April 19, 2012, which was the hottest recorded in country’s capital last year.

Dadivas said temperatures are expected to rise further in the coming days as the easterlies, or warm winds from the Pacific Ocean, peak.

Meanwhile, in Baguio City the maximum temperature recorded yesterday was 23.2 degrees Celsius. The hottest recorded in the country’s summer capital was 29.2 degrees Celsius last April 5.

Dadivas said most parts of the country will continue to experience good but warm weather this weekend. No weather disturbance is likely to affect the country in the next few days.
