4 killed, 54 hurt in Ifugao road mishap

MANILA, Philippines (Xinhua) - Four people died while 54 others were injured when a dump truck where they were on board fell into a deep ravine in Ifugao yesterday afternoon, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said today.

The vehicle was traversing the moderately ascending road when it slipped and plunged into an approximately 100-meter deep ravine in Nalbo village, Mayoyao town at around 3:45 p.m., the agency said.

The victims came from a wedding in nearby Alimit village of the same town and were on their way home when the accident happened.

Three of the passengers died on the spot, while another one expired while being treated in a hospital.

Of those who were injured and brought in the hospital, nine of them were in serious condition.

Further investigation has been ongoing on the incident, NDRRMC said.
