Chiz apologizes over Heart

MANILA, Philippines - Sen. Francis Escudero apologized yesterday to the public and some private individuals who were dragged into the controversy involving his girlfriend actress Heart Evangelista and her parents.

Escudero admitted he and Heart are trying to cope with the biggest challenge in their eight-month-old relationship. But he remains optimistic they will overcome the hurdle.

He denied allegations by Heart’s parents that he is an alcoholic and disrespectful of them. He said he initiated efforts to reach out to them, but to no avail.

“The only thing I was unable to do is to fetch pails of water and to axe some wood,” he said in jest.

Escudero said it pains him to see his girlfriend gravely affected by the controversy. “She has not been her usual bubbly self. She is sad,” he said in Filipino.
