Chiz slips to 3rd in latest senatorial survey

MANILA, Philippines - Re-electionist Sen. Francis “Chiz” Escudero, who is embroiled in a controversy regarding his love life, slid down to third place in the recent pre-election survey by the Social Weather Stations (SWS).

Radio station dzRH reported the results of the latest SWS poll on the senatorial preferences of voters for the May 2013 elections, which showed Escudero’s ratings dropping from 62 percent last February to 48 percent in March.

Escudero shared the third and fourth places with San Juan Rep. JV Ejercito who also obtained 48 percent.

The survey was conducted from March 15 to 17, using face-to-face interviews with 1,200 adults.

The latest SWS survey showed Sen. Loren Legarda still leading the senatorial race with 59 percent, followed by Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano with 57 percent.

Coming in fifth place were re-electionist Sen. Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III, former Las Piñas Rep. Cynthia Villar and Nancy Binay, who received 47 percent each.

Sen. Gregorio Honasan grabbed the ninth slot with 43 percent, followed by former Movie and Television
Review and Classification Board chairperson Grace Poe with 40 percent, and Aurora Rep. Juan Edgardo Angara with 39 percent.

Cagayan Rep. Jack Enrile and former senator Ramon Magsaysay Jr. obtained 37 percent and former senator Juan Miguel Zubiri got 35 percent.

Ejercito, son of former President Joseph Estrada and a candidate of the United Nationalist Alliance, said he is grateful to the people for his third place in the
