Not yet summer, but hot weather in next 3 days

MANILA, Philippines - The state weather bureau has yet to announce the official start of summer, but it advised the public yesterday to brace for hot weather in the next three days.

Nathaniel Servando, administrator of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), said the wind systems that will prevail in the country in the next days are the ridge of high pressure area and the easterlies.

“Luzon will be affected by the ridge of high pressure area while the easterlies will affect the Visayas. This will signal the start of dry sunny season,” Servando told The STAR.

He said the summer season is expected to set in this week.

The weather bureau declares the onset of the summer season in areas under Type I climate, including Metro Manila, once the easterlies become the dominant wind system.

In a previous interview, Servando said the temperature in Metro Manila could hit 37 degrees Celsius in the latter part of April.
