MANILA, Philippines - Independent senatorial candidate Eddie Villanueva will spearhead an ecumenical prayer meeting for honest, orderly and peaceful elections (HOPE) today at Club Filipino in San Juan.
Villanueva has invited other senatorial candidates to the event and urged them to momentarily set aside political differences to come together in faith for HOPE.
He also appealed to the senatorial candidates and the candidates running for local posts to safeguard election results from any fraud.
“Let us bring back the faith of Filipinos in our electoral system so that the true voice of the people will be heard,†said Villanueva, the lone senatorial bet of Bangon Pilipinas.
Former presidents Fidel Ramos and Joseph Estrada are expected to attend the prayer meeting.
