Noy: Administration senatorial bets no tradpols

Delon Porcalla - The Philippine Star

DIPOLOG CITY, Philippines – The administration’s senatorial candidates are not traditional politicians who will cling to their posts, and they will pursue the current reform agenda, President Aquino declared here last Tuesday.

Addressing a meeting of local Liberal Party (LP) leaders at the Amando Amatong Civic Center, Aquino promised that his hand-picked candidates would work for the common good and not for personal interests.

Only former Akbayan party-list Rep. Risa Baraquel was present during the meeting.

“We believe that they will all serve, not to break the law and hang on to power but serve truthfully and effectively for the people. I am now telling you: with Team PNoy, only the people are the boss,” Aquino said.

He assured the people that the 12 candidates of the LP-led administration slate would be guided by the straight path policy that he initiated.

“Bawal ang pa-bida, bawal ang nakikiangkas, bawal ang mga nagpapanggap lang (No grandstanding, no hitchhiking, no pretenders),” Aquino added.

Aquino called on all Filipinos to be extra discerning in choosing the next set of leaders during the national and local elections in May.

He urged the people to vote for administration candidates, from the senatorial candidates down to the local level, and to guard the vote.

“Let’s continue traveling along the straight path, working together and helping each other,” Aquino said.

He expressed confidence that with the help of the people, the gains achieved by his administration to move the country forward would continue beyond his six-year term.
