CEBU CITY, Philippines – The United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) has decided to move the venue of its proclamation rally to Cebu City.

It was earlier announced that the event would be held in Toledo City.

UNA secretary-general and Navotas Rep. Toby Tiangco confirmed to The Freeman that their proclamation rally on Feb. 12 will be held at the Maritima Heritage grounds near the Cebu City Hall.

Tiangco said they considered the request to hold the rally in Cebu City.

Toledo City Vice Mayor Arlene Zambo said they are not disheartened over UNA’s decision to transfer the venue of its proclamation rally.

Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama yesterday said they were preparing for the event.

Tiangco said all senatorial candidates of UNA would be present during the rally.

UNA founder Vice President Jejomar Binay will lead the activities, Tiangco said.

He will be joined by former President Joseph Estrada and Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile.

The event will start at 6 a.m. with a Mass at the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral, followed by a motorcade from Cebu City to other areas in Metro Cebu, including the cities of Mandaue and Lapu-Lapu.

UNA welcomes silent support

Meanwhile, Tiangco lauded Quezon City Rep. Bolet Banal, official candidate for congressman of the Liberal Party (LP) in Quezon City, for openly admitting his support for UNA senatorial bet and San Juan Rep. JV Ejercito.

“UNA would like to thank Congressman Banal for his maverick stance. We admire his courage and we hope that he won’t get in trouble with his party. We know that many LPs are silently supporting UNA bets as we have already received feelers from incumbent local government officials allied with the administration,” Tiangco said.
