Comelec accredits 3rd citizens' arm for May polls

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has granted accreditation to a third citizens' arm for the May 13 midterm elections.

The Comelec said in its latest resolution that the poll body recognizes the One Vote Movement as one of the three citizens' arms it has accredited to help in the elections.

The One Vote Movement, a coalition of various churches and non-religious organizations, had been accredited as a citizens’ arm by the poll body in the May 2010 presidential elections and the October 2010 barangay elections.

The poll body had accredited the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) and the National Movement for Free Elections (Namfrel) as the citizens' arms in the elections.

In another resolution, the poll body awarded a P3.1-million contract for the supply of internal hard disk drives that will store data of the upcoming midterm elections.

It awarded the contract to the Columbia Technologies Inc., which will supply 1,700 units of hard disk drives at P1,825 per unit.
