Metro temperature dips to 18ºC

Ghio Ong, Helen Flores - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Metro Manila residents woke up yesterday to a chilly morning with the mercury dipping to 18.8 degrees Celsius, the state weather bureau said.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the coldest temperature was recorded at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Pasay City at 6 a.m.

He said the temperature in Quezon City also dropped to 19.5 degrees Celsius recorded at the PAGASA facility located along Agham Road at 6 a.m.

In Baguio City, the temperature was at 11.2 degrees Celsius yesterday.

PAGASA weather forecaster Ricky Fabregas said cold temperatures will be experienced in the coming weeks due to the peak of the northeast monsoon and the tail-end of a cold front.

He said the tail-end of a cold front will continue to affect the Visayas while the northeast monsoon will still prevail over Luzon.

He said light to moderate rains will prevail over the Visayas and Mindanao.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will be partly cloudy with isolated light rains until the weekend, Fabregas said.
