Noy on working vacation, finds time for Gangnam

Delon Porcalla - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Telling aides he’s just “a text away,” President Aquino is taking a four-day Christmas break and has found time to dance Gangnam Style with his grandnephew.

Aquino’s official Facebook page showed his photo doing the horse dance made famous by South Korean rapper Psy.

The picture of the President dancing with his grandnephew Vito “received more than 5,000 likes on Facebook as of posting, with nearly 400 comments and over 100 shares,” ABS-CBN News online reported.

Palace officials said the President, whose “working vacation” started Tuesday night, was closely monitoring the situation in areas hit by typhoon “Quinta.”

Presidential spokesman Edwin Lacierda said Cabinet Secretary Jose Rene Almendras and relatives are with the Chief Executive.

“We were told that if there’s anything important, he is always a text away. And certainly communications are ongoing with him, except that talagang we wanted to give the President more time to rest,” Lacierda said at a news briefing.

Facebook users commended the President, who is spending his Christmas break in Baguio City and his home province of Tarlac, for being “flexible and for spending time with his family during the holidays.”

“Our President knows how to step down from his pedestal,” Facebook user Eileen Arboleda-Orbeta commented. “He’s perfectly human too like us.”
